Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2 1869 and Died at the age of 78 on January 28 1948. He was born in a place called Porbandar, which was a costal town in the Kathiawar Peninsula. Gandhi's father, Uttamchand Gandhi, served as the diwan of Porbandar state. Gandhi was the youngest of four children that his parents had. He had three siblings with the name of Laxmidas, Karsandas, and an older sister, Raliatbehn. Laxmidas went into law, and Karsandas became a sub-inspector of the police. Gandhi was a member of the Hindu religion, which meant he was not allowed to eat meat or drink wine. Gandhi was very serious about his religion. He did not break any of the rules as in did not ever eat meat or drink wine as an example. Being the youngest his other siblings tempted him by offering him to have a nice piece of meat. This showed that little Gandhi was young, loyal, and very responsible. When Gandhi was about seven years of age he attended an all boys school in Rajkot. Once he finished elementary he attended another all boys school in Rajkot. As he was finishing high school Gandhi began to wonder where he would like to attend college. He didn't want to go to a place that was in India because that is where he lived his whole life and wanted to somewhere else. Even though his mother supported the decision that he had made she was still very worried because she didn't know if she was financially ready to be able to support Gandhi for the choice that he was going to make. Finally in 1918 he had left India to go to London to go and study what he had wanted to do. In London Gandhi had gotten a four year education and did not break any of the promises that me had made when he left. When he came back to India he was expecting a proud family but had found out that his mother had passed away shortly after he had left to College.
